DISCOVER THE WONDERFUL SEA BEDS AROUND
CAPE SANT'ANDREA In collaboration with the local diving centre, the Hotel Ilio is able to offer snorkelling from June to September.
A diving instructor will guide you through the wonders offered by the Cape Sant'Andrea seabed.
The programme of activities
is structured as follows:
- Guided snorkelling excursion with mask, flippers and snorkel.
DIVING First rule: look, but don't touch. Observe in silence,
without disturbing.
The secrets and images of the underwater
world can only be captured by the naked eye or with the
help of an underwater camera. You can follow an octopus through
its rocky hideaways, the wake of an eel, a crab or a starfish.
Diving should only be done in company of an expert guide who
will give useful explanations of what you see in the depths.
This is diving - observing the sea with the intention of studying
it. PADI and SSI instructors organize skin-diving courses
and guided immersions, with the possibility to rent equipment
and refill oxygen tanks. (The diving centre is just 150 mt.
from our Hotel.)
STORAGE CENTRE
A storage centre on the beach is available to those who wish to
store kayaks, surfboards, diving equipment, etc.
BEACH SERVICES
Umbrellas and sun beds can be rented on the beach at Sant'Andrea.
SEA KAYAKING
Gliding on water with a canoe tones muscles and lets your mind relax.
The kayak,
a long pointed single canoe which carries you along by use of a
double paddle while sitting with your legs stretched out, is one
of the few sports that involves two opposing characteristics. Aggressive
when battling the turbulent waters of rapids, the kayak becomes
calm and placid gliding on the sea around the Island of Elba. Some
use this sport for relaxation, others use it to reach isolated beaches.
Still others practice kayaking as a true sport discipline. Instructors
from AIKM (the Italian Association of Sea Kayaking) offer the opportunity
to take courses at various levels and going on guided excursions
along the coast from Cape Sant'Andrea to Punta Polveraia or Marciana
Marina.
