All nature activities are run by park guides from
the Tuscan Archipelago National Park and qualified instructors.
HIKING, BOTANICAL WALKS, BIRDWATCHING
& BIO-WATCHING
The park guides organize guided excursions in the mountains
which surround the gulf of Cape Sant'Andrea (highest peak
Mount Capanne, 1019 metres). During these trips it is possible
to admire the rich and varied flora (large groves of tall
chestnut trees, Mediterranean scrub, conifers, deciduous trees,
wild orchids, anemones, red lilies, etc.), the wildlife (mountain
goats, wild boar, martens, hares, dormice, squirrels, hedgehogs,
blackbirds, goldfinch, red grouse, imperial ravens, kestrels,
falcons, etc.) and the splendid scenery of the "other
Elba", which is little known and open to new discoveries.
The excursions will be held primarily in the areas of the
Tuscan Archipelago National Park.
BOTANY
The island evokes special emotions in botany enthusiasts. The scents
of Elba will take you by surprise any month of the year. But obviously,
Spring is the period in which the fragrances and colours of the
various wild flowers and plants are truly exalted in this Mediterranean
paradise. Finding yourself surrounded by flowering cistus, heather
and broom growing along ancient trails will supply many pleasant
memories especially once you have returned to the city.
